The Battle Of The Batistes

Due to my hair being heavy and thick, unfortunately for me it is quite flat at the top. I seem to think only volume hairstyles suit me whereas, if I were to do a low sleek bun my head looks weird. Every hairstyle I create has to have some form of volume. When adding volume to my hair I would either use Batise Heavenly Volume Dry Shampoo or the Batiste XXL Plumping Powder. Today I will be comparing the two products to see which one creates better and longer lasting volume.
Batiste Heavenly Volume Dry Shampoo
Pros:
Eliminates and absorbs grease from the scalp leaving hair looking fresh.
For me, this dry shampoo doesn’t leave a white cast on my hair however, just make sure you don’t spray excessive amounts.
It definitely does add volume but can leave the hair looking a bit messy so, once you have rubbed in the dry shampoo just go in with a light hand and brush areas that have become messy if this is the look you are not going for.
The volume does last all day and even lasts through to the next day!
If you back comb where you added the dry shampoo it definitely adds more oomph!
Cons:
It doesn’t really have a nice perfume scent and rather has a bland, not fresh scent. Especially the next day my hair smells a tiny bit unappealing. I’m not sure if anyone else does this but I do spray perfume on my hair regardless of dry shampoo application so hopefully it’s enough to combat the dry shampoo smell lol.
With excessive use it can cause a very dry scalp which leads to dandruff so please be careful.
Kritique Rating: 4/5.
Batiste XXL Plumping Powder
Pros:
It definitely provides you with that XXL volume and lifts hair from the root!
The packaging is tiny so you can carry it around in your bag and add volume when needed. I found this so helpful when I go away for the weekend instead of carrying the massive 400ml dry shampoo can.
The powder formula is super lightweight so you can’t really feel the product on your scalp.
A little bit goes a long way.
It doesn’t leave any white residue as long as you rub the product in properly.
This product does not cause dandruff.
Cons:
Not everyone will like the formula. After you rub the product in, it transitions from a powder to a gel/ sticky like texture. This is what holds the volume at the root. Due to this, it may be great for the first day hair but for second day hair it feels icky and sometimes the volume is lost. Whereas, with the dry shampoo you can comb it out or even if you don’t choose to comb it out your hair will still be soft. However, with this powder it might be slightly difficult to comb out and you may be left with a weird residue on your hair.
Kritique Rating: 3.7/5.
If I were looking for everyday volume I usually opt for the dry shampoo but, I use a moisturising shampoo to combat the dandruff. Although, I don’t use the dry shampoo everyday as once I’ve sprayed it, it does last a couple of days. On the other hand, if I was doing a one time hairstyle for example a specific hairdo for an outing, I would then opt for the powder knowing I would wash my hair as soon as I come back. I do believe the dry shampoo works best for messy, curly hair dos whereas the powder would be a better option for the sleek styles.
