So I know I talk a lot about how important SPF is but really and truly I don’t apply it as often as I should do. As part of my morning skin care routine I do dollop a whole load of sunscreen on my face however, sunscreen must be reapplied throughout the day in order to keep your skin protected. You might be sitting there thinking it’s impossible to re apply sunscreen especially if you wear makeup. I mean come on, no one is going to keep re applying their makeup because they have to keep re apply their sunscreen. I’m not going to lie, for a while now I’ve been satisfied just throwing on sunscreen in the morning and hoping that it would just magically last all day but, the truth is it simply won’t be effective.

The sunscreen I use as part of my skin care routine is the Garnier Ambre Solaire in SPF 30. SPF 30 is enough protection for the UK sun. I love this sunscreen as it keeps my dry skin hydrated along side my normal moisturiser. Initially, it does create a white cast however, this does disappear after rubbing the sunscreen in properly. Furthermore, when I decided that enough is enough and I couldn’t keep lying to myself that I’m protected all day from the sun, I decided to research a SPF that could be applied on top of makeup. I was very excited to see that Garnier did a SPF facial mist that can be applied on top of makeup! Yep you heard me! It was obvious that I had to purchase it.

How to use

Shake vigorously and spray from a minimum of 15cm away. I sprayed about 25-30cm away as I was scared that it would create a white cast/patch. Make sure you keep your eyes and lips closed when applying the mist.

Pros

  • It can be applied on top of makeup... simple! It doesn’t get any better than that.

  • The sun mist protects you from UVB rays, UVA rays, pollution and dehydration.

  • When I did further research on this facial mist, I had noticed a few people found this mist greasy but I found it was the complete opposite. The spray created a beautiful dewy finish which was right up my street. It wasn’t greasy either which makes it perfect for people with oily skin. The formula had a powder finish so I didn’t find it greasy at all.

  • It felt super soft on the skin.

  • It did not create a white cast which I was surprised at.

  • It wasn’t heavily fragranced and had a baby powder smell to it.

  • The can is quite small so you can carry it around in your bag.

  • The formula wasn’t heavy on my face at all. Just be careful not to spray too much!

  • The mist was only £6 from Boots!

Cons

  • You can only purchase factor 50 at the moment which is quite high for the UK climate. It’s a shame you don’t have any other SPF options.

  • The packaging states it’s for fair and sensitive skin which I have none of these lol but I still brought it. I don’t understand why it wouldn’t work for medium to darker skin tones???
