I was in need of a new face mask since my skin needed a proper detox. I’ve heard a lot of good things about the L’Oréal Pure Clay masks and had even checked the reviews and they were pretty impressive. There are six different clay masks to choose from: bright, purity, detox, soothing, blemish and glow. I chose the L’Oréal Paris Blemish Clay mask since it was for unclogging and I have horrible clogged pores along my nose. Pros

  • The best smelling mask I have ever used. It has such a beautiful strong scent but it does contain perfume (sigh) but it is last on the ingredients list (yay!).

  • It looks cool on the face and is a pretty blue colour.

  • I didn’t find this mask that drying. Usually masks become super dry and start to crack on your face which leaves a horrible feeling and dries out your skin however, this one is surprisingly soft.

  • The consistency is super smooth and creamy making it easy to apply onto the face.

  • It’s an affordable mask at £7.99.

  • You only need to use it twice a week for 5-10 minutes which is quite quick.

Cons

  • The formula contains alcohol denat and unfortunately it is really high up in the ingredients list. If you have sensitive skin I would steer away from this mask. Continuous use of this mask or overuse can cause long term dryness and can actually cause an overproduction in oils. It may be a temporary fix for oily skin but try not to over use the mask. On the other hand, alcohol denat may be okay for people with acne. It’s antimicrobial properties disinfects the skin. I would say over all this mask is more suited for oily skin.

  • My skin wasn’t really soft after use. It felt the same as before.

  • Sometimes after using face masks my skin looks brighter and healthier. I didn’t get that fresh looking feeling with this one. Rather, it looked somewhat dull.

  • My skin was quite red after having used it. My skin doesn’t usually turn red after having used new products so it was an unusual reaction.
