I wanted a new facial scrub as my Neutrogena Hydro Boost had just ran out. It was an okay product but didn’t really do anything amazing. I have, however, heard many great things about the Carbon Theory Charcoal and Tea Tree Facial Cleansing Bar thus, I decided to purchase the facial scrub as I didn’t really need a cleansing bar as I swear by The Body Shop Moringa Bar. Little side note, I have only used this scrub four times and I’m pretty impressed.

What the scrub claims

Charcoal- draws out impurities and any oil ( I don’t think there is any concrete evidence to prove that Charcoal does this considering it is a frequent ingredient used in the skin care world.)

Tea Tree- works as an antiseptic and reduces inflammation. Shea Butter- Moisturises and keeps the skin hydrated.

Pros

  • I’m not going to lie, I really like this scrub. I’ve really noticed a difference in particularly with the texture of my skin. Previously, my nose was quite rough even though I used another facial scrub but after one use of the Carbon Theory, it felt super smooth!! My overall skin in general feels like a baby’s bottom especially after having applied my moisturiser.

  • There’s no perfume! Perfume in scrubs are soo unnecessary especially because all your going to do is wash it off. Also, it’s great for those with sensitive skin. The scent is quite mild too, it simply smells of Charcoal.

  • The scrub particles in the formula are not large like the St Ives ones so it is quite gentle on the skin.

  • I have a dark spot on my chin left from a spot I picked ages ago. I have been using The Ordinary cream on my chin to lighten it however, it’s not really worked. After a few uses of this scrub, I don’t know if I have gone crazy but it has lightened!

  • It had scrubbed a zit I had on my forehead away without causing damage to my skin.

  • My skin looks fresh and healthy.

  • It’s vegan and cruelty free... yay!

  • A little goes a long way! You only need a 2 penny size squeeze.

  • This scrub would be perfect for oily skin but surprisingly works for my dry skin too.

Cons

  • It is a bit expensive at £11 considering it is a drugstore scrub however, like I said a little goes a long way!

Honestly, I love this scrub! I’ll continue to use it around 3/4 times a week as over exfoliating can damage the skin. My skin has never looked better!

Kritique Rating:5/5.
