The Products I Use To Wax At Home

As soon as we went in to lockdown, one of the things I had worried about was the idea in which I was unable to see my waxing lady. I knew I wasn’t going to be seeing anyone so it wasn't a big deal but my upper lip and eyebrows grow so quickly that it becomes embarrassing and makes me feel insecure (I had to look decent for Sainsbury's shopping.) I had to just take matters in to my own hands and learn how to wax at home.
I decided to buy a professional kit as I wanted to mimic my waxing lady's tools and bring her salon home. I purchased the Mylee Professional Waxing Kit from Amazon. The kit includes everything you need such as the wax heater, hard beads and spatulas. I did also purchase smaller wax spatulas for my facial hair as the ones that come with the kit may be too big.
How to use the kit
The kit is so easy to use! You simply plug in the wax heater and pour the required wax beads in to the pot. I leave it to heat up for at least five to ten minutes. I leave the setting on just after the point medium as this gave the perfect temperature- not too hot that you would burn yourself but hot enough to grasp the hair strands. When you scoop the wax up with the spatula, I learnt that you had to twist the remaining wax around the stick otherwise you will have wax spilling off the spatula or, wax strings falling everywhere which takes ages to come off and creates an inconvenience. You then apply a (not too thin- not too thick) layer of wax in the desired area and leave it to harden before waxing it off in the opposite direction to application. I use the wax kit on my face, underarms and legs. I even tried this on my bikini area thinking I was so brave as I have a high pain threshold but I could have cried. I was left with half a bikini waxed which looked so stupid because I refused to continue waxing the rest lol.
Pros
Now that I have learnt how to wax at home I have saved so much money.
I can wax whatever I want at home and at my own convenience.
This kit is perfect for beginners to practice waxing at home as it includes everything you need and is a high quality product. I like my brows a specific way as they grow with an arch but I prefer them to be rounded. I never thought in a million years I would be able to perfect my own brows but, this kit has allowed me to perfect my brows at home where I can achieve the desired rounded shape.
The wax beads comes in a huge 500g packet which is a lot of wax. I still have loads left over since I had purchased the kit since the start of lockdown.
The wax beads requires no strips which is even more convenient so you don't have to keep purchasing strips. Using wax strips can sometimes become messy also.
I purchased the wax beads in charcoal and green tea as these ingredients have calming properties. I actually don't get that much redness after waxing but only when I wax my whole face which is expected however, this calms down within half an hour. My mother on the other hand, has super sensitive skin and loves using this wax as her skin does not react badly to it. She used to break out with the waxing lady's wax so this one is definitely more catered to her skin.
You can change the temperature on the wax heater to your desired heat. The wax pot has a dial you can turn so you can achieve that perfect setting.
The wax heater comes with a lid so any remaining wax can be left in there as long as you place the lid on top to stop contamination.
The wax hardens within ten seconds of application (depending on how you have spread the wax) so waxing is not a long process. Sometimes I look in the mirror and realise before going out that my eyebrows need doing. I just whip out the wax kit and it only takes me a few minutes to wax them. No biggie.
There is a safety feature on the heat pot as it automatically switches off when it reaches a critical temperature.
It's hard to over wax your face and burn yourself if that makes sense. I've used drugstore wax strips before and have managed to burn my face however, the Mylee wax is quite gentle on the skin.
The wax beads can be used anywhere on the body.
It is less painful than any waxing products I have used before.
Cons
I don't know why, but sometimes it doesn't pick up all my upper lip hair but yet picks up my eyebrow hair. This can be frustrating but this con has also led me to learn how to thread my own upper lip. This con is also weird as the wax picks up my peach fuzz on my face. It could be that my upper lip hair is much more finer?
It can get messy sometimes so just make sure you place a sheet underneath the wax pot.
I won’t need to see my waxing lady again.
