How To Lighten Your Brows At Home Using Jolen

If you have read my recent blog you would know I have radically changed my hair colour from blonde to brown. As my hair colour is naturally super dark, my eyebrows did not match my new brown hair. I couldn’t use the hair dye on my brows as it clearly states you cannot use the dye on brows. I’ve seen YouTube videos of women using men’s beard dye to dye their eyebrows but I knew this wouldn’t lift the colour of my brows but it is rather better for depositing colour. I then came across Jolen Creme Bleach which is a facial bleach that lightens upper lip, eyebrows, peach fuzz and side burns. This was perfect as the bleach was suitable for use on the face. I did purchase the original formula as the shop didn’t have the mild formula so I’m not going to lie, I was a bit scared in case I ended up with bleach blonde brows. To be honest, it does really state what the mild formula actually means. Is it mild in terms of lifting power or mild as in not as harsh on the skin?

The Process

1. You must start off with a clean and dry face. Your brows must be free of moisturiser and oils. I poured the cream developer into the blue bowl provided up to the line indicated on the bowl.

2. I then measured the powder bleach into the lid of the bleach tub and poured it into the bowl. I then mixed the bleach and developer together with the spatula provided.

3. Once the bleach powder had absorbed into the developer, I then applied it to my eyebrow and spread the mixture on thickly. I used a cotton bud to clean up the area slightly.

lol.

4. I left this on for 8 minutes whilst checking the hairs to see if the desired lift was being produced. I did take the mixture off the front of my brows slightly earlier as they had lifted quicker than the rest of the brows. This is potentially because there are hardly any hairs here.

5. I wiped the mixture off with cotton pads. I then used my The Bodyshop soap to wash my face and done!

Pros

  • The Jolen product was super cheap at £2.90!

  • I have loads of developer and bleach left over. I believe I can get at least another two/ three uses out of it.

  • The instructions were easy to follow and easy to mix together. The whole process was quite fast.

  • The bleach mixture didn’t have a nasty scent or strong chemical smells you can normally find with hair bleach.

  • It was gentle on the skin as I didn’t experience any itching or stinging

  • It only lifted my brows by one hair level which is great for those who are newbies to bleaching their hair or new to using bleach in general. If you wanted even lighter brows, the instructions do indicate you can go back in again with the product for another 5-10 minutes.

Cons

I honestly don’t really have any cons for this product. It was fast, effective, didn’t irritate my skin and it did exactly what I wanted it to do. It lifted my brows to the perfect shade of colour which made all the difference to my appearance.
