I was so excited to try Huda’s new Wishful skin care range as I’ve seen it advertised all over social media. I decided to try a product from this brand and the Chin Lift Mask had caught my eye. This mask is quite unique as I’ve never seen a product like this before so I was super excited to try it out. The mask cost £8 for a one time use which I think is a lot as you’ll have to buy loads of these if you want to tell your friends you have gotten a real face lift.

What is it?

Part of Huda’s skin range Wishful, the chin lift mask was inspired by Huda’s insecurity of her jawline and chin. The beauty mogul has always tried to manipulate the look of her chin with makeup but has now created a mask that would naturally give your face a lift. Huda has stated there are four main ingredients that would contribute to the success of the chin lift. Firstly the mask includes peppermint which creates a tingling sensation which would then in turn increase circulation. Huda claims peppermint is known to increase tightness.

The mask also includes the infamous ingredient Niacinamide also known as Vitamin B3. You may have recently heard about this ingredient as it’s becoming more popular in the skin care world. Niacinamide is known to reduce enlarged pores and eradicate fine lines, wrinkles, acne scars, pigmentation, redness and controls sebum production for those who have an overproduction of oils. Niacinamide is a versatile ingredient as it can be used for any skin type in order to achieve well rounded and good skin but must be left on the skin in order for it to be effective.

The third ingredient is peptides. Peptides helps with anti ageing as from the age of 30 we start to lose 1% of collagen each year and we all know collagen stops us from looking old. Peptides mimics the body into sending out signals for collagen reproduction therefore, tricking our body into making more. Huda claims to have used this ingredient in the mask in order to even out and tighten the skin.

The last highlighted ingredient is Adenosine. Adenosine has anti ageing benefits and is renowned for smoothing out the skin. It also promotes healing. Okay, that’s the sciencey bit over. Let’s get to it...

How I used the mask

It’s so important you start off with a dry and cleansed face. Do not apply moisturiser to the bottom half of your face because this will create a barrier and the ingredients will not be able to seep through your skin. I applied moisturiser to the top half of my face because if I don’t the skin on my eyelids will start to look like a cracked pathway.

I peeled the plastic film off the mask and stretched it out to accompany my jaw line. I then applied it to my chin and placed the ear holes behind my ear. I stretched and secured the mask underneath my neck and under my lips. I then massaged the mask upwards towards my ears making sure the mask was sitting nice and tight against my jaw line.

Immediately you can feel the tightness of the mask and a cooling sensation of the peppermint which does create a little bit of tingling. It’s not uncomfortable but just feels super weird. I can’t help but think this mask will f*ck my skin up as it tingles across my jaw. I’ve chosen to leave the mask on for 30 minutes as Huda suggests if you leave it on for any less than 20 minutes you will not see the full effect.

(I'm trying not to laugh at how silly I look).

Pros

  • The mask contains many beneficial anti ageing ingredients especially ones that promote collagen and smoothness.

  • Considering I didn’t use moisturiser on the bottom half of my face, my skin feels hydrated and smooth which is great for my dry skin.

  • Although there is fragrance which can be irritating, it is last on the ingredients list so it's very subtle in the product.

  • You only have to leave it on for a short period of time which you can utilise doing the rest of your makeup.

Cons:

  • The mask did not make any difference. I’m not sure if it’s because my jaw line is already prominent but I thought it would at least tighten the skin below my ears and create a chiselled, more defined look.

  • I spent £8 to moisturise my jaw and neck. I could have simply brought a moisturiser that includes niacinamide, peptides, peppermint and adenosine.

Before and After

I really can't see any difference but you guys can be the judge of that. I did follow the step by step tutorial that Huda created on YouTube so I don’t think I’ve missed anything out in the process. Personally I think my skin feels smooth and soft to touch which I’m glad because I was worried that it would ruin my skin. The only time I would purchase this product again is if I was having a girly night in with a glass of wine and face masks as it is a fun product to try out. If you are expecting drastic results please don’t have high hopes for this product because really and truly it is just a gimmick. I wouldn't let Wishful reflect badly on Huda Beauty's makeup brand as she produces some amazing liquid lipsticks. Shame I didn’t get that Kylie Jenner jaw line I was hoping for.
