Before anyone mentions how I simply have "gOoD gEnEs", my skin does break out. I must admit I do not get any severe breakouts (thank God) but from time to time I can break out. I can honestly say washing my face with The Body Shop Soap in the scent Moringa has contributed towards the continuation of my clear skin. I would also like to mention how my brother had teenage acne and only used this soap with a basic moisturiser and his skin eventually cleared up. We haven't looked back since.
Who is The Body Shop?
The Body Shop was founded in the UK by Anita Roddick. The company's mission statement believes in fair trading and their ingredients are ethically sourced. They're cruelty free and are working around the world to ban animal testing. Their products are also 100% vegetarian. I personally believe these aspects of the company allows customers to feel 100% comfortable shopping with The Body Shop as their company is community and planet focused. Their brand remit coincided with their great products has led them to their success.
How I use the soap
I look in my bathroom mirror and observe how sh*t my eye bags look. I get excited when I can finally take my makeup off at the end of the day. I then splash warm (not hot) water on my face. I rub the soap with my hands until I achieve a nice lather then do circular motions on my face making sure I've cleansed all areas. I rinse the lather off with warm water and dab my face with a towel (not rub). Finally, I apply my moisturiser and my spf 30 in circular motions. Now look at how beautiful you look in the mirror! I do this routine in the shower every morning and before I go to bed at night.
What is so good about this soap then? Pros:
From my personal experience, this soap does have a drying effect. Please don't get scared dry skin people. I also have dry skin and this soap works perfectly. I simply restore the moisture in my skin with a good moisturiser after washing my face. The bar of soap is not completely moisturising but it's not drying to the point where my face feels like the Sahara Desert. It leaves my skin feeling soft and thoroughly cleansed.
It takes off waterproof eyelash glue and it will sure take off that waterproof mascara! I do not use wipes (I DESPISE makeup wipes) or micellar water to take off waterproof products, I just go straight in with this. This is good as it means you're using less product on your face.
It smells nice for those who care about scent but it is very subtle and not over powering for those who particularly don't like fragrance.
It's kind to the skin and not at all abrasive.
It's super cheap as it only costs £2.50! What a bargain. Its a large bar so it will most likely last longer than your usual facial wash- that's only if you don't get your whole family hooked on it.
Cons:
When you stay somewhere else for the weekend you'll have to put it in a soap tub. Does this actually bother anyone?
You must moisturise after (which you should be doing regardless).
Ok it does have perfume in it and is slightly high in the ingredients list so if you have severe sensitive skin I wouldn't recommend it. Having said that, my Mum has sensitive skin and this product works wonders. Before you try any product out please do a patch test.
I understand how everyone's skin is different but feedback I've had from majority of people said this soap is amazing. Don't take my word for it but if you're fortunate to be able to purchase this product, I highly recommend it. I can't say the same for the other soap bars which you can get in a variety of different scents but, this Moringa one has been my holy grail. Let me know in the comments on my Instagram page whether you have any of The Body Shop products before.
