Every one should know that not all nude lipsticks are the same. The colour nude can have many different connotations. You would think shopping for nude lipsticks are easy but they are probably the hardest colour to shop for because finding the best nude is dependent upon a person's skin shade and undertone. As a person of colour, shopping for nude lipsticks is difficult as how the lipstick swatch is pictured online is not how they appear on me. The lipsticks I have chosen to kritique in this blog may not suit everyone but I believe they’re pigmented enough to be used on any skin tone when paired with the perfect lip liner. I do truly believe everyone has their perfect nude lipstick, it's just a matter of trial and error with a range of brands, shades and formulas. Today I have chosen five of my favourite nude lipsticks and I will be discussing why they are kritique verified. I hope this blog helps you on your journey to find the perfect nude!

Arm Swatches

Charlotte Tilbury Hollywood lips- Best Actress

One of my favourite nude lipstick is from Charlotte Tilbury‘s matte liquid lipstick range in the shade Best Actress. This nude is said to have a brown undertone however, on my skin tone the brown is not as prevalent and looks more pink which still looks beautiful. The liquid lip is super creamy, weightless and super soft on the lips as the formula includes added beeswax. Surprisingly, the non drying formula does not transfer so it makes it perfect for kissing and eating! For a more flattering look, I would recommend wearing a lip liner underneath. I pair this with Charlotte's lip liner in Hot Gossip (this lip liner is my absolute fave and it can honestly be paired with any nude lipstick. Also, this lip liner is perfect for medium to dark skin tones!)

Huda Beauty Liquid Matte- Trendsetter

This liquid lipstick is just WOW. Especially for those who are similar to my skin tone or darker, this is the perfect warm-brown nude. This terracotta nude is soo pigmented you only need one swipe across your lips. The consistency of the formula is thin and a little goes along way. Unlike the Charlotte Tilbury lipstick, you may find that this one is slightly stickier when you put your lips together despite this, it is longer lasting. This liquid lip is so hard to remove you may have to eat a starter, main meal and dessert to remove it from your lips. It dries down to a beautiful, pigmented, satin matte and I absolutely love it! It is definitely a staple nude and would suit a variety of skin shades and undertones. You can even get away with not wearing a lip liner because of its dense pigment and it does not feather so you will get a neat finish.

Huda Beauty Demi Matte- Day Slayer

You probably think I receive commission as I rave so much about this brand but surprisingly I don’t. I think Huda has smashed it when it comes to liquid lipsticks as this is her forte. The demi matte is a great liquid lipstick for those who don‘t enjoy the dry feeling of a matte liquid lip as the formula is quite creamy. Day Slayer is the ultimate nude with pink undertones. What is unique about this lipstick is how you can choose the finish of it. The lipstick when applied has a velvet/ satin finish but it can be blotted down to a matte with a tissue. The lipstick is comfortable and moisturising. Another benefit of this product is how the formula includes menthol hence why when you apply this liquid lip there is a slight tingling sensation in order to make the lips plumped. This plumping effect coincide the satin finish really makes the lips appear more plumped which is great for those who want to achieve a fuller look.

MAC Retro Matte Liquid Lipcolour- Burnt Spice

Again, like the Charlotte Tilbury lipsticks, this is a light, pink-nude with a cold undertone but paired with the perfect lip liner (I use Huda Beauty Lip Liner in Trendsetter), this created the perfect nude. I would say this a dupe of Kylie Cosmetics' famous Dolce K. It is a beautiful matte nude and has a light weight formula. It can slightly transfer but nothing of a concern. MAC are notable for their cake batter, vanilla scent in their lipsticks and this one definitely smells like cake (please do not be tempted to eat it).

Bourjois Rouge Velvet Lipstick- 16 Caramelody

I wanted to include this lipstick as it is a more affordable option out of my favourites list. This lipstick is like the dark horse of the lipstick world. I don't know what made me purchase this lipstick but it sure was a surprising purchase. For £8.99 you honestly couldn't go wrong. It has a more of a velvet/satin finish rather than matte but it can be blotted down to a matte finish with a tissue. It glides across your lips like how a surfboard glides across the sea waves. It is like smothering moisturising lip balm across your lips whilst receiving a beautiful pigmented colour. What surprised me about this lipstick was how pigmented it was. From a lipstick, I never expect full coverage as I have always been disappointed which is why I prefer liquid lipsticks because you can gain more pigment from them but, this lipstick's colour pay off is amazing. The only problem is that because of its moisturising benefits it does not last long however, it would not hurt to reapply with that price.

If your partner asks for nudes, definitely send him/her one of these.
