When I was in Birmingham I made a trip to every possible shop in Bullring to find a kiss proof, non-transfer liquid lipstick. Did I find one?No. Every beauty consultant told me to purchase a lip stain instead but surely I shouldn't have to compromise pigment over a lasting liquid lip? Then I remembered a little drugstore lip I see every time when I am at work but I have never truly given my attention to it. It is the Rimmel London Provocalips 16HR Kissproof Lip Colour. They have a few colours ranging from reds, pinks, browns and purples but there is only an extensive range in drugstores, you'll find more online. I decided to purchase Playing With Fire which I thought would be a deep red but it is simply a medium red.

What the Lipstick claims:

It claims to be long lasting and lasts on the lips for 16 hours. The colour end is supposedly made to glide on effortlessly. They also claim that this end of the lipstick produces an intense colour whereas the other end is the lock in balm that holds the lipstick in place and delivers moisture. Their main claim is that the lipstick is kiss and transfer proof.

I decided to test the Provocalips and wear it to a whole shift at work. I wanted to test the longevity, whether it would transfer onto my mask and whether it would last through my lunch.

Pros:

  • It does not transfer as much as all the liquid lipsticks I have ever tried. I kissed my hand after the lipstick had set. Would I say it's kiss proof? Yeah, to an extent. You must apply the balm though because the colour side alone would transfer.

  • It is definitely not drying on the lips after having applied the balm side.

Cons:

  • Unfortunately, it is not long lasting. The lipstick in the middle of your lips starts to wear away after a few hours and especially after eating.

  • It does transfer especially if you are wearing a mask. The lipstick transferred onto my mask and then onto my nose.

  • You can't wear the intense colour alone and must apply the balm. For me, this is down to personal preference but, I found that when I applied the balm the lipstick just looked ugly. It had looked like I smeared jam all over my face and was not flattering at all. It's probably the most ugliest lipstick I've worn to be honest.

  • You can tell the lipstick is cheap and the pigment is not intense. When you compare this lipstick to something expensive and of good quality like the Fenty Stunna Lip paint... I mean you can't, nothing compares to that bad boy.

  • The texture of the lipstick on the lips feels icky and heavy. I guess this is because of the balm which again, it is a shame that you must apply this side for it to be 'kiss proof' (so it says it is pfft.) It's also sticky on the lips as you can tell if you put your lips together.

I even tried to give this lipstick another go by pairing it with a lipliner but it just smeared the lip liner and made it sheer. It didn't lock in the lipliner either which I thought it magically would. This lipstick is okay in the sense that it doesn't transfer like other lipsticks. So if you're looking for one that doesn't budge that much when you kiss your partner, I guess this is a cheap option.
