My Pure Halo LED gel polish had ran out so I decided to purchase the DND base coat as I have had good experiences with their colour gel polishes. Honestly I’m super impressed! I don’t think I’d ever use a different one and once my Pure Halo top coat runs out I’ll definitely will be purchasing the DND top coat. If you have read my previous blog you will already be aware of how to get salon worthy nails at home. What influenced me to purchase DND is the fact that they use this brand in many nail salons. I was surprised at how affordable the polishes are and hopefully soon I will have a whole collection. So, even if you don’t paint your nails at home but rather go to a salon for gel nails, hopefully this blog gives you some indication to why you should go to a salon that uses DND.
What the brand claims:
A good foundation for gel polish.
Longevity for over two weeks.
Prevents staining and damage to the nails.
Ensures a durable and long lasting manicure.
(This information was taken from the DND‘s official website.)
Pros:
What really impressed me about this base coat was the longevity of it. I’ve never used a base coat that has made my gel polish last this long.

This image was taken after nearly two weeks of wear. I could have left it on longer but I wanted to change the colour. AHHMAAZING if you ask me! Usually at this point my nails would be chipping from the top or the polish would be lifting from the cuticles bit.
Another pro is the foundation it creates for the gel polish. It’s very smooth and covers ridges and cracks in your nails ultimately forming a great base for LED application. Sometimes LED base coats don’t cover unevenness on the nail and it seeps through the polish which creates an unprofessional and an ugly look.
It does not create staining to the nail but I’m assuming because I wear light coloured polishes. This feature would have to be tested using a darker colour like red.
You get 15ml of product so you’re paying for both quality and quantity at an affordable price of around £10 depending on where you purchase the base coat.
DND base coat can be cured with both an LED or UV lamp (LED is way better.)
It takes 30 seconds to cure which is quite rapid. However, I cure it for the whole minute just to ensure it has been fully cured.
The base coat cures fully so it doesn’t mix with the coloured polish you place on top. I have had experiences where the base coat doesn’t fully set even after curing it for a minute thus, it mixes with the colour I place on top and dilutes the pigment.
You can pair this base coat with any brand or colour. If you have a shit LED or UV colour gel polish, just simply pair it with the DND base coat and it will probably last longer.
The consistency is perfect. Not too thin and not too thick that it feels heavy on the nails.
Cons:
Nothing. I’ve had a really good experience with this base coat and I wouldn’t purchase any other.
Kritique Rating: 5/5.
