Blackheads are pesky little things we can find prominently on the face. Blackheads are usually noticeable on the nose area as this area is part of our T zone. The T zone is an area on your face which includes the forehead, nose, and chin. This is the oiliest part of your face as there are a lot of oil glands. Blackheads must be professionally removed or can be done at home using products such as exfoliants that target the blackheads rather than the sebaceous filament. What is sebaceous filament you’re wondering? Well, this is where people get confused between the two. When people use blackhead peeling masks and say they have gotten rid of their blackheads, really and truly they haven’t. Really, they have removed the sebaceous filament which is what we actually need as its purpose is to direct oil flow on the nose. They also protect the pores on your face from getting infected or damaged by building up natural oils and stopping anything from entering the pores. We need sebaceous filaments in our skin and if you keep removing it with a blackhead charcoal mask, they will keep returning. Well, what is a blackhead then? Blackheads are when the pore gets clogged with an over production of sebum, dead skin, oil, pollution and dirt.

The problem with using a blackhead tool to remove blackheads is, yes it may work but, you will probably be left scarred or leave your pores infected. This tool is so dangerous it’s like it has been crafted by the devil himself. It is so damaging to the skin, it’s not even worth taking your chances.

My experience

I used to use the blackhead tool from time to time as it was a fun process but I had done little research on its effects. I even used to use it on my partner (sorry) until one day I had a red dot on my nose. I am assuming this red spot was from the blackhead tool as it had damaged my skin and created a broken capillary. A broken capillary can occur for many reasons but in this instance it was due to trauma to the skin caused by the forceful use of the black head tool. Unfortunately for me, the only way I can remove this is if I were to get it lasered (soon come). Even though it is so tiny, the brightness of the red colour makes it noticeable. This has changed my confidence as I used to love walking out the house without foundation but, now I feel as if I have to always cover my nose even if it’s just with concealer before I can proceed out. I wanted to share my experience with my readers as I don’t want anyone to make the same mistake as me and ruin their skin. So if you do own a blackhead tool, bin it right now!

I will be on the hunt for a chemical exfoliant in order to remove my blackheads. When I say exfoliant please do not turn to sugar scrubs (I hope you wasn’t thinking of St Ives) as these can cause tiny tears in the face and damage your skin as they’re too harsh. Rather, acid exfoliants are better as they use ingredients that are naturally present in the body in order to look young and healthy.
